The Kennedy Space Center

On Monday we went to the Kennedy
Space Center. It was so cool to actually see the Discovery Shuttle on the lauch pad. It launched the next day. Wish we had decided to see the launch but the crowds would have been hideous.

The used shuttle engine was especially interesting to Scott. That is the platform that is the closest to the launch pad you can go. Across the road was that crawler that carries the Shuttle to the launch pad. The building far away in the picture is much bigger than it appears. It is one of the largest (cubic foot) buildings in the world. That is where they assemble the boosters to the shuttle. The long dark things that look like windows are actually doors that take hours to open in order to get the shuttle out.

Wilderness Lodge

We also took a boat from Magic Kingdom over to the Wilderness Lodge. It was just our style. It was kind of dark so I didn't get any good pics of the lobby, but of course Mickey was there as a totem with Goofy and Donald Duck. Scott said we will have to stay there next time we go and yes there will be a next time! The Wilderness has it's own geyser but we didn't see it spout. The stream originates inside the lobby, goes outside as you can see and then cascades into the pool.

Grand Floridian Hotel

We visited the Grand Floridian Resort Hotel. It is beautiful but the guests all looked so stuffy it was uncomfortable. The 3 stained glass ceiling domes were just amazing.

Mickey's garden

Mickey's garden, he grows the most unusual shaped pumpkins, don't you think? We stood in line and had our picture taken with Mickey.

The Haunted Mansion

The Haunted Mansion was much more elaborate looking than at Disneyland. The mausoleum names we got a good laugh from. Hope you enjoy them too!

Port Orleans Riverside -Our Resort

We stayed at the Port Orleans Riverside Resort. It truly was on the river. Our room looked out on the courtyard with a fountain. The other side of the building looks on the river. You cross a bridge to an island with the pool, cross a bridge on the other side to the main building with the lobby and restaurant which is fashioned to look like a cotton mill with a working waterwheel. All very serene and pretty.

M-I-C-K-E-Y, Mickey everywhere!

Mickey is everywhere you look. Notice the filigree work in the lobby of our hotel.

Dinosaur

The fake dinosaur skeleton was pretty realistic. The Dinosaur ride would scare the little ones but we thought it was pretty good.

50's Prime Time Cafe

We ate at the 50's Prime Time Cafe at the MGM park. The ambiance was great. The waiters make you set your own tables and yell at you for putting your elbows on the table. The TV played excerpts of several TV shows and movies from the 50's in black and white. It was a really fun place.

Beauty and the Beast

Beauty and the Beast was a fabulous show. It's amazing what they do in a half hour. The costumes were so cute. The guy that played Gaston had a great voice.

The "characters" we saw along the way,

Hook and Smee (where I got one of my nicknames)

Mary Poppins

Mickey, Pluto, and Goofy fishin'

Magic Kingdom, it really is magical!

More beautiful views of Magic Kingdom

Halloween at the Magic Kingdom

Magic Kingdom decorated for Halloween.

Topiaries

I love what Disney does with shrubs. The topiaries are so sweet.
Mickey and Minnie in front of Cinderella's Castle.

The worm looks over the pond.

Snow White and Happy were cute too. My favorite was Mickey as the Sorcerer with the brooms and their buckets pouring plants.

Dumbo was in Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom.

The buffalo were in front of the Wilderness Lodge hotel.
